What the free version lets you do

🤖

Full AI Light

The mode that analyses the sound live and generates colours and intensities on its own works without restriction. You can test it on your own tracks before deciding to buy.

🎬

Timeline programming

Build your light sequences block by block, aligned to the waveform of your tracks. The shows you create stay saved on your computer.

🎭

Interactive stage plot

Patch your fixtures, split them into groups and check the result on screen. This is where you see the AI and your sequences at work.

🎵

Audio & video player

The full playlist, with media transitions and light sync, works in the free version.

🎮

Built-in AKAI simulator

No need for a physical controller: the pad grid and faders work with the mouse. Hardware stays optional.

💳

No credit card

Nothing to fill in when downloading, so no charge is possible after the 15 days. The trial just stops, that's all.

What the free version doesn't do

DMX output requires a paid plan

It's the only limit, but it matters, so you might as well know it right away: in the free version, MyStrow sends nothing to your fixtures. Sending DMX commands — whether over Art-Net to a network node or through a USB/DMX interface — is reserved for the Pro and Lifetime plans.

In practice: you can build everything and see everything on screen, but the physical fixtures that are plugged in won't move.

Why this limit

The free version exists so that you can judge the software on its merits: how easy it is to use, how good AI Light is on your music, how the timeline behaves on a real show. All of that can be checked on screen, without plugging anything in.

The preparation work isn't lost: patch, groups, sequences and shows are saved on your computer. The day you activate a plan, your show is already ready — all that's left is to plug in the interface.

What we're asked most often

Is MyStrow really free?
MyStrow can be used for free for 15 days, without entering any credit card. During that time you get AI Light, timeline programming, the stage plot and the audio/video player. Only one feature is reserved for paid plans: DMX output to your fixtures.
Can I control my real fixtures with the free version?
No, and that's the key thing to know before downloading. DMX output — sending commands to your fixtures, over Art-Net or through a USB/DMX interface — requires a Pro or Lifetime plan. On the free version, you can build your whole show and watch it run on screen, but the physical fixtures receive nothing.
So what is the free version for?
For all the work that comes before plugging in: patching your fixtures, splitting them into groups, programming your sequences on the timeline, testing AI Light on your tracks and checking the result on the stage plot. When you move to a paid plan, your show is already ready — all that's left is to plug in.
What happens after 15 days?
Access to the features stops, but nothing is lost: your shows, patches and sequences stay saved on your computer and become available again as soon as you activate a plan. No automatic charge can happen, since no card was ever saved.
Are there completely free DMX programs?
Yes, several open-source or free programs let you output DMX without paying, QLC+ being the best known. They usually take longer to learn and don't offer sound-driven automation comparable to AI Light. If what you need is DMX output with no budget, they are serious options worth a look.
What's the difference between Pro and Lifetime?
Both give exactly the same features, DMX output included, on two machines. Pro is a subscription at €9.99/month excl. VAT billed annually (€19.99 excl. VAT month to month). Lifetime is a one-time payment of €299.99 excl. VAT (€359.99 incl. VAT in France) that includes lifetime updates, with no subscription.
Do I need an AKAI controller to use MyStrow?
No. A full simulator is built into the software: the pad grid and faders work with the mouse. The AKAI APC mini controller is a comfort for live use, not a requirement — and that applies to both the free and the paid version.
