MyStrow is not limited to manual control. Learn how to create, record and replay your light sequences — from live Light Rec to a complete timeline, track by track.
From manual to automatic: light sequences
Controlling your lights live is good. Programming them so they run exactly the same way at every performance is even better. MyStrow offers two complementary approaches: spontaneous recording with Light Rec, and structured programming on the timeline.
Whichever method you choose, the result is the same: precise sequences, synced to your music, endlessly repeatable with no extra effort on show night.
Heads-up: this video is narrated in French. No problem though — YouTube automatically provides English subtitles and an English dubbed audio track. Subtitles are on by default; you can switch the spoken language from the player settings (⚙️ → Audio track).
Two ways to build your sequences
MyStrow offers two sequencing modes, suited to different workflows. Both can coexist in the same show.
🔴 Light Rec — Live recording
You perform your show live while MyStrow records everything. Every color, every level change, every cue point is captured automatically and turned into clips on the timeline.
🎬 Timeline — Precise programming
You draw your sequences straight onto the timeline by placing color clips on a time grid. Ideal for repeat shows where every second has to be identical.
Recording your show live
Start the music and enable Light Rec
In the MyStrow playlist, select the track you want to build your sequence on. Press Play to start, then click the REC button in the light bar. MyStrow starts recording every move you make on the interface or on the AKAI APC mini.
Perform your show in real time
Everything you do while recording is captured: color changes on groups, faders going up and down, mode switches. Play freely — you are building your sequence without even realising it.
Stop the recording
Click the REC button again to stop. MyStrow automatically turns all your actions into colored clips on the track's timeline. Each clip represents a light state at a precise moment.
Edit and fine-tune the clips
Open the timeline editor (the Edit button on the track). You can move, resize, cut or delete each clip. Adjust color, intensity and transitions. Precision is absolute — down to the millisecond.
Switch to Light Play mode and replay
With your sequence ready, change the track's mode to Light Play. From now on, every time the track plays, MyStrow automatically replays your recorded sequence — identical, precise, with nothing for you to do.
Programming your sequence on the timeline
Open the timeline editor
In the playlist, click the Edit button on a track. The timeline editor opens with a time grid where each row represents a fixture group (Front, Top 1, Top 2…).
Create color clips
Click and drag on a track to create a clip. Choose the color, the intensity and, if you like, a secondary color (bi-color). Clips snap together and overlap freely on each group track.
Sync with the music
Play the music from inside the editor and adjust your clips in real time. The track's waveform is displayed below the timeline, letting you align your light changes with accents, drops or choruses.
Save and attach to the track
Your sequence is automatically linked to the track inside the show file (.tui). Next time you open the show, everything is there — sequence, colors, timings. Reload, press Play, and off you go.

Bi-color clips
Each clip can have a main color and a secondary color. MyStrow automatically alternates the colors between the fixtures of a group for a natural bi-color effect.
Perfect repeatability
Once your sequence is built, MyStrow replays it identically every time, with no input from you. Ideal for touring and repeat shows.
Musical sync
The track's waveform is displayed under the timeline. Align your light changes with accents, drops and choruses with millisecond precision.
Saved inside the show
Sequences are stored directly in your show's .tui file. Everything reloads instantly — no external files to manage.
Light sequences: your questions
Which method should I choose: Light Rec or the timeline?
Light Rec is ideal if you have musical instinct and like to improvise. The timeline suits you better if you want absolute precision or highly structured shows. In practice you often use both: record with Rec, then fine-tune on the timeline.
Can I edit a sequence after recording it?
Yes, completely. Open the timeline editor and you will find all your recorded clips. You can move them, resize them, change their color or intensity, add new ones or delete them.
Does Light Play mode work with every fixture?
Yes. MyStrow sends the sequences to all your patched fixtures, whatever their DMX profile (3CH, 5CH, RGBW, moving head…). Color conversions are handled automatically by the DMX engine.
How many tracks can I program in one show?
There is no limit. Every playlist entry can have its own independent light sequence. A 30-track show can have 30 different sequences, all saved in the same .tui file.
